For those looking for a breath of sea air

Roll out the towel, slap on the factor 50 and escape to a seaside sanctuary.

We’re always dreaming of a long hot summer, until it actually arrives that is – and whilst there’s lots of places to soak up the sun in Epsom & Ewell, you can’t beat a weekend retreat to the seaside. Here are some of Blighty’s best beaches to enjoy as the sun comes out to play…

Littlehampton

The sand and shingle beach isn’t the only thing to enjoy at this seaside resort. There’s a promenade, fairground attractions, a train ride along the front, and a great restaurant and take- away kiosk designed by reknowned architect Thomas Heatherwick. Plus the UK’s longest bench!

Brighton

A beacon for Brits on sunny days, take a stroll (ice cream in hand) along the pebbly beach or grab a beer on the world-famous pier. Plenty to keep everyone amused.

West Wittering

This large and sandy beach offers lovely views of Chichester Harbour, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, no less. You’ll see plenty of wildlife, not to mention some of the cleanest waters in the UK. Get there early to avoid parking queues.

Frensham Beach

Not strictly the seaside but closer than the coast. This sandy spot faces onto Frensham Pond in a large common near Farnham. Swimming is permitted and there’s a sculpture park, with 600 statues to explore, within walking distance too.
